The Sonic Gallery

Privacy Policy

Effective 2 September 2026 · Last updated 2 September 2026

This policy describes how The Sonic Gallery (“the app,” “we”) handles information. Version 1 is a free Android music player for audio files that already exist on your device. We do not operate user accounts or a backend that receives your library.

Information the app uses on your device

After you grant access, the app reads audio files and embedded metadata (title, artist, album, duration, artwork, and similar tags) from folders you choose. It stores a local catalog, playlists, favorites, playback queue, settings, and listen counts in a database on the device. This information is used only to show your library and play music.

We do not upload your files, tags, playlists, or listening history to our servers.

Information we do not collect

For version 1 we do not:

If you email support, we receive whatever you include in that message (typically your email address and the issue you describe). We use that only to respond.

Permissions and background playback

The app requests access to music folders you select (Android Storage Access Framework). You can revoke that access in system settings. While you play audio, Android may show a media notification and keep a foreground service running so playback can continue with the screen off. On compatible cars, Android Auto can browse and control the same on-device library; that session stays on the phone and the car display.

Other companies

Google Play, Android, and Android Auto may process device, install, and diagnostics data under Google’s own policies. We do not receive a copy of your music library through those systems. This policy covers only The Sonic Gallery.

Children

The app is a general-audience music player. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Retention and deletion

On-device library data remains until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall it. Uninstalling does not delete the audio files in your chosen folders. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.

Changes

If we add accounts, ads, purchases, analytics, or cloud features, we will update this policy and Google Play Data safety answers before those features ship. The effective date at the top will change.
